About whatthevalle

We are a family of 5 that travel the world sharing the love of Jesus Christ.

IWT in South Dakota!

Image

Here we are in Watertown, South Dakota. It’s the 5th largest town in the state, surrounded by rural farming communities. There is a strong religious heritage, but for many people it is only a Sunday morning ritual. We are partnering with the local churches to share the gospel and our testimonies of how having a personal relationship with Jesus has changed our lives.

Our first performance was a combo show at the Watertown mall with GX and Team Xtreme. We are performing and sharing personal testimonies at nursing homes and schools.

We have performed at two large outreach events in two towns. At the first outreach night at Webster high school, 550 attended, 88 received salvation, 21 of which were unchurched. Three entire families came up for the altar call together. A 15 year old girl who surrendered her life to Jesus was pregnant and dedicated her baby to The Lord.

The second outreach night was held at Tiospa Zina American Indian Tribal School. This school is strictly only for Native American children. Many of these students come from broken families impoverished by alcohol, drugs and gambling addictions. The tribal committee is very strict to let outsiders, especially Christians, come into the school. Because Island Breeze is a native culture and dance group, they allowed us to come. Two natives from our team shared their personal testimonies. After the show the local churches served food and our teams ate with the students and their families.

Thank you for all your prayers and support. It is an honor to partner with you in sharing the good news about Jesus here in South Dakota.

Our Summer

Aloha friends & family,

Since April we have been in Kona, Hawaii preparing for our second daughter’s wedding. The Lord orchestrated our tour schedule in a way that we could be home during this special season for our family.  When Ruth first got engaged, we knew it would be a faith project. Not only was the wedding beautiful, but it was everything Ruth & Yngvar had dreamt of. God began releasing the funds even before they were engaged! We know it is nothing short of a miracle that the wedding is totally paid in full. PRAISE THE LORD! The newlyweds were also blessed by the generous love & gifts from family & friends around the world.

Summer 2013

It has been a while since our family stayed in one place for a full summer.  One of the ways the Lord provided for us was by helping us to find jobs. Rudy was employed full time with a friend’s construction company. Brooke danced part time at Island Breeze Production’s luau as well as babysitting/teaching crafts/hula for tourists at a resort.

Olepa has had her hands full homeschooling Tavita, involved with our church intercession team and helping Ruth plan her wedding. Our nephew Tony (who has lived with us since 2007) has also found work landscaping with one of our church members and dancing the fire knife for Island Breeze Productions.

Along side the family finding jobs in the marketplace we have still been full time with YWAM Kona and our ministry Island Breeze.

Next up for us is an Impact World Tour (IWT) in Watertown, South Dakota for two weeks. Then driving to Manitoba, Canada to partner with our Island Breeze team there. After Canada we will drive down to Minnesota, hop on a plane and head for Kansas City, Missouri – the headquarters for YWAM Campaigns/Impact World Tour and the International House of Prayer (IHOP).

This summer has been very different for our family, but none the less special. We got to know our new son-in-law better and also spend more time with our daughter Ruth. It has been the end of one season and the beginning of another. Thank you for your prayers, support and love during this time. Change is never easy, especially family moving so far away, but we are very excited for what the Lord has in store for Ruth & Yngvar.  We rejoice that we have new blood in the family!

Blessings to you and yours from our Ohana,

Rudy & Olepa Valle

Aloha from Hawaii

Aloha from the Big Island :-)!

Since the Iowa tour in April, our family (and team) have been on the Big Island also known as Hawai’i island.
At the beginning of this year our daughter Ruth became engaged to a young Norwegian man. They are to be wed in two weeks! God orchestrated our tour schedule and their wedding to work out perfectly so that we could be home to prepare for this grand celebration.
Rudy has been blessed with a job doing construction with a friend’s company as well as playing music at the Island Breeze Lu’au’s and training new musicians. He and Ruth are also apart of our church’s worship band.
Ruth recently completed a three month Hawaiian language course through the University of the Nations and has been working part time as a polynesian dancer at the luau. She is very excited to be marrying the love of her life! As you know, a lot of work goes into planning a wedding. We are so blessed to have had my cousin dream, plan and organize everything for Ruth and Yngvar’s special day.
Brooke has been training our team in the basics of polynesian dance, working (dancing and photography) and helping out with whatever she can with the wedding. She is a hard worker and such a strength to our family.
Tavita loves being home for the summer because he gets to play with his friends. Being on the road for most of the year is hard on him because there aren’t any children his age to play with. Since being home he has attended two short youth camps, joined the Kona Bulls rugby team, and competed in a community soccer tournament. Our boy is full of energy 🙂
Tony, my nephew, has been volunteering with the grounds department at the University of the Nations and working as a dancer at the luau. He also enjoys being home because it reminds him of his birthplace, Samoa.
Yngvar (Ruth’s fiance) has been with us for the past month to help with wedding stuff, attend marriage counseling and serve at our church. We have enjoyed having him here during this time and getting to know them better as an engaged couple. He loves to fish and has cooked us a few dinners with what he’s caught. He is a wonderful man that loves the Lord and we could not be happier to have him in our family.
I have been keeping busy making sure my son is up to date with his homeschooling, wedding planning and getting more involved with our church and Island Breeze’s prayer ministry. It has been a season of crying out to the Lord to see his promises fulfilled and also a time of praising the King of king’s for his faithfulness. As you know, wedding’s are not cheap but neither is our God! He has faithfully provided what we have needed, exactly when we needed it. He has brought us on this faith journey and we know He will be faithful to complete it.
Please keep us in your prayers as we transition into this new season of our daughter moving away and also having a son-in-law 🙂
Thank you for your continued friendship over the years and across the miles. We are thinking of all our loved ones near & far who will not be able to come for Ruth & Yngvar’s wedding.
Bless you all :-)!

A touch of Holland

Image

Aloha from Iowa, USA!

These past 10 days were spent with Impact World Tour bringing the good news of Jesus Christ to Pella and Newton, Iowa. This is a Dutch reformed area that has a religious background, but unfortunately for many, Christianity is only a religion.

Image

We came to share not about religion, but about the one true and living God who wants to have a relationship with you! Between the three teams, GX, Team Xtreme and Island Breeze, we went to all the schools and elderly care homes in the surrounding area to perform, share testimonies and invite them to the weekend shows where we could more openly share the gospel. We were blessed to have the leaders, June & Paulo Mataia, of Warriors Come Home join us for the weekend shows. June and Paulo are good friends of our leaders and also fellow co-workes in YWAM and Island Breeze.

Image

Thousands of people attended both weekends and responded to the gospel message. They are followed up with local links to get them plugged into a church. One couple that hosted some of our team members said with tears in their eyes, “Thank you so much for coming here. Three of our grandchildren came to all three shows and accepted Jesus.” They were so shocked that we didn’t get paid, and we would come all the way to their little town in the middle of Iowa. Jesus left the 99 sheep to find the one lost sheep, because he loves them so much he doesn’t forget about a single one. Because Jesus does this, we will do the same. Go to those that are hard to get to, overlooked or deemed as insignificant, because they are significant in the Kingdom.

On the 21st, a young boy was walking home after our show, was hit by a car and airlifted to Des Moines. He passed away this past Tuesday (April 23rd). Please pray for his family and the community, that God will comfort and bring them peace. This has been a reminder to our team of the importance of sharing the gospel, because the eternity of souls are at stake. Tomorrow may never come.

Thank you for all your prayers and support. It is truly an honor to partner with you in spreading the good news of Jesus to the nations.

Blessings and mahalo!

Aloha Kahikolu Church

This past Sunday Olepa & I had the opportunity to share at a Hawaiian church. Kahikolu Church was built from 1852–1855 and is one of only two stone churches from the 19th century on the island of Hawaii. It is also the final resting place of Henry ʻŌpūkahaʻia (c. 1792–1818), known as Henry Obookiah, who inspired the first missionaries to come to the Hawaiian islands.

As missionaries from Hawaii it was a special time for us as we shared our testimony and dance. The church building has been beautifully restored but could not match the beauty of the hearts of the people. Mahalo Kahu (Pastor) Bobby Macomber for inviting us!

An Answered Prayer

By Rona Malama –

Five years of my life I spent away from God. A choice God had for me to choose so I chose to walk away! In 2004, Auckland New Zealand. I was at an Island Breeze show with my boys, taking advantage of the free entertainment.

It was there that I thought I had everything together. Girl friend, car, job, my boys, what else could you ask for? At least that is what I thought…..
The lights turn off and there’s a silence on stage. A shout and the drums start beating, and to my surprise so does my heart. The dancers start coming out and we start calling out to the pretty island girls from the islands.

So the show goes on and we are getting drunk.
Then they (Island Breeze) do a dance from NZ. A reenactment of the crucifixion! At the end of the performance my heart dropped as Rudy gives the altar call!

He said, ‟There’s somebody in this crowd that knows he is supposed to be here responding. If your heart is not right with God, and you leave here tonight and die in car crash, you know where you‟ll be.”

That was it, I said! I raised my hand and went to the front. Knowing I had been away from the God I knew I HAD to get my heart right with God!
I made a deal with God saying, “Lord! If I get my heart right with you I want to be standing right next to that man talking on the mic…..” because I knew I needed to be doing something good in my life.
I said this in 2004. Today I’ve stood next to (on stage, my instrument is set up right next to his) Rudy Valle since 2007 and have been traveling with him and the team to different parts of the world…

God is good!!

Tavita is playing rugby

Tavita is playing rugby

Tavita has been dying to join a sports team just like his other friends. So when the opportunity arose how could we not jump in? Even if he has already missed half the season….this photo was taken during his first game in Pahoa. He scored four tries. Not bad for his first game and only 2 weeks of training with the boys!

God Bless America

This week we have been leading worship at David’s Tent in Washington, D.C. On the White House Ellipse this tent stood for 40 days, minus a few days they met in a church due to Hurricane Sandy. The purpose was to worship, fast, and pray for the United States elections. There was no preaching and no one was trying to convince people who to vote for (It was Olepa’s first time voting as a US citizen). We only prayed that the land would be governed in righteousness and justice according to Biblical standards. Christians from all around the world came together to pray for our nation in this tent. 24 hours a day with non-stop worship and praying in the middle of all the government buildings right in downtown changed the atmosphere from hustle and bustle to joy and adoration for the most high King Jesus. Passerby’s, homeless, and government workers would stop in and sit among the praises. One morning, secret service stopped in and told the sound booth to turn up the amps because they couldn’t hear it from their stations.

No matter the state of this nation, Jesus Christ is still sovereign. He will bring justice, and his people will praise him.
